Daniel Andrews plan to scrap 42 hospital beds from the new Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is putting his own political ideology ahead of better health outcomes for Victorian cancer patients.
The agreement that Daniel Andrews plans to tear up would deliver world class cancer care services to more Victorians.
The row has led to the sudden resignation of the Chair of the Peter Mac board, Wendy Harris QC.
Ms Harris has stated that Daniel Andrews’ actions would result in the loss of $20 million in philanthropic donations from the public for the cancer centre.
Before the election, Daniel Andrews stated that “health will be my number one priority”, yet his actions to cut 42 beds and abandoned $20 million to support this world class facility tell a completely different story.
Victorians have the opportunity to tell Mr Andrews that it’s just not good enough – he needs to reverse this cut and restore the 42 beds.
