Shadow Minister for Health, Mary Wooldridge, today welcomed the opening of the $81 million Frankston Hospital redevelopment, which was planned, funded and built under the Coalition Government.

The state of the art project will provide 93 new beds to the emergency department, additional and larger treatment spaces and technological improvements in the form of radiology facilities, telephones, computers and highly sophisticated pendants.

“It was especially pleasing to see that the project was delivered on time and 10 per cent under budget, which meant savings of over $8 million were able to be re-invested in new services for the hospital”, Ms Wooldridge said.

The reinvested funds enabled Frankston Hospital to increase the scope of construction works at Frankston Hospital to include additional cardiovascular diagnostic facilities and a major refurbishment of the hospital’s kitchen.
